God’s Heart For The World

For a good chunk of my life, I thought the best way to live a good life was to help the world. Being only one human in an enormous world, I quickly realized how hard that was going to be. What skill or knowledge did I have on my own that would benefit all people for the longevity of time? I turned down that idea to help others in a smaller capacity—to be alive in life and help others on a more intentional and individual level as I went on in the different realms of my journey.

I challenged this idea of good for so long. Is there a universal truth? Does any of this actually matter? Are there levels of happiness? And God graciously revealed to me His own goodness. It wasn’t a state or a feeling, nor was it self-determining. It was understanding that God is without imperfection and fully holy, making Him the only ounce of real good. Therefore, anything outside of Him is not. That every “good” work we try to do will have a small tint of unholiness. However, we can come close to this good with Him.

I have realized this importance in my own life—that bringing light to the darkness is to bring good where it isn’t. And because God is the only form of pure good, this is the greatest and longest-lasting gift I could give someone.

So, my journey of how to live a good life becomes how to give God to everyone who has not yet gotten to know or experience Him. To understand His truth and His love and how we can further it. That we don’t have to work our way up to Him, but He comes down to us.

I am encouraged to know I wasn’t completely wrong. We are meant to help the world, but with a great God. And it’s not only to be done by me, but has been happening throughout history and will continue to happen with those that carry that light and truth. We are on a greater mission field… together.

That is why the gospel is good news in every language and deserves to be heard among the nations.

I was so blessed to have spent a week learning about the major world religions and to understand how big God’s heart for the world really is.
